Commercial Manager — ximu (APAC)

Role Positioning

ximu is the platform arm of VM Group—designed to scale IMAGE Asset Governance.

We are not building a traditional software tool. We are building a platform for the next generation of brand and IMAGE Asset governance, helping companies understand how they are perceived, interpreted, surfaced, and trusted in a rapidly changing information environment.

Behind ximu is a founding team with nearly 20 years of experience across APAC in professional services, strategic consulting, brand communications, cross-border markets, and AI applications. From Taipei and Hong Kong to Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo, we are transforming long-standing consulting expertise, market insight, and AI-native capabilities into a platform that can scale.

This is not a traditional BD role, a pure PM role, or a back-office operations role.

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to help ximu build its first wave of strategic partnerships, commercial opportunities, and go-to-market validation across Hong Kong and APAC.

You will sit between the founder, the market, ecosystem partners, product consultants, PMs, and central teams—turning early market signals into commercial pathways that can be validated, repeated, and scaled.

You are not here just to sell a product—you are here to help ximu open its first markets, first partners, first validation cases, and first scalable commercial curve.


What We Are Building Now

ximu will not begin with a traditional enterprise direct-sales model. Our first-stage growth strategy is Partner-Led Growth.

We work with partners that already have customer relationships, technical capabilities, industry trust, and solution scenarios to accelerate market penetration and validate product-market fit before expanding into enterprise direct sales and regional commercial teams.

Target partners include:

  • SaaS companies
  • Cloud providers
  • Data technology companies
  • MarTech / AdTech companies
  • Large solution providers
  • System integrators
  • Consulting firms
  • Advertising, PR, and communications groups
  • FinTech / Web3 / Blockchain ecosystem players
  • Platform organizations serving enterprises, brands, and high-growth companies

Your core mission is to help ximu enter the market through partners.

You will work closely with the founder and core team on market development, pre-sales, partnership discussions, solution design, PoC planning, product packaging, and follow-up execution.

After every meeting, introduction, demo, or partner conversation, you will continuously evaluate:

  • What is the real value of this partner?
  • Can they bring customers, solution scenarios, technology, channels, or market credibility?
  • Is this worth a PoC?
  • Can this become a joint offering?
  • Can this become a lighthouse case for Hong Kong, APAC, or global markets?
  • Who should follow up, how should we follow up, and what narrative should we use?

Not just discussing partnerships, but turning partnerships into markets. Not just completing tasks, but turning every task into the next opportunity.


Key Responsibilities

1. Partner-Led Growth | Ecosystem Development

You will help build ximu's partner ecosystem across Hong Kong and APAC, including:

  • Mapping and developing SaaS, Cloud, SI, MarTech, DataTech, consulting, advertising, and technology service partners
  • Prioritizing partner segments and market-entry strategies
  • Designing partnership models such as Referral, Joint Sales, Embedded Solutions, Strategic Alliances, and Product Partnerships
  • Helping position ximu as a value-added component within partners' solution offerings
  • Co-designing demos, workshops, pilots, joint proposals, and co-marketing initiatives
  • Building and managing an early partner pipeline

We are not looking for someone who simply builds contact lists. We are looking for someone who understands a partner's resources, commercial motivations, and growth leverage.

2. Commercial Pre-sales | Value Translation

You will work with the founder, product consultants, PMs, and central teams on pre-sales and commercial discussions, including:

  • Understanding customer and partner business scenarios
  • Translating ximu's platform capabilities into clear commercial value
  • Designing PoCs, pilots, demos, workshops, and partnership proposals
  • Participating in business presentations, commercial discussions, and initial partnership structuring
  • Organizing client questions, objections, requirements, and next steps
  • Feeding market insights back into product and consulting teams

You do not need to be the most technical person in the room. You do need to understand technical value quickly and translate it into language that customers, partners, and the market understand.

Turn products into real business scenarios. Turn scenarios into commercial value. Turn value into partnerships.

3. Hong Kong Market Development

Hong Kong will be one of ximu's key entry points into APAC.

You will help build ximu's first market foundation, including:

  • Strategic partner pipeline
  • Industry stakeholder networks
  • Enterprise prospects and platform partners
  • Technology, startup, financial, professional services, and cross-border business resources
  • Public reference cases and early validation results
  • Priority industries, market scenarios, and partnership themes

You do not have to be from Hong Kong, but you should have substantial academic or professional experience there. Ideally, you have 5+ years of market experience and understand the local business environment, relationship networks, cross-border dynamics, and communication style.

This role will work across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei, Singapore, and Tokyo, with Hong Kong serving as the primary market.

4. Product × Commercial × Delivery Integration

You will work closely with product, consulting, PM, and central teams to ensure market opportunities become executable business capabilities.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Translating market needs into product improvements
  • Packaging industry-specific solutions
  • Building reusable demos, proposals, decks, and case studies
  • Supporting partner onboarding
  • Contributing to pricing, revenue sharing, delivery scope, and partnership models
  • Building the ximu Commercial Playbook
  • Turning frontline market insights into future GTM strategies

Your role is not to pass work to the back office. It is to bring market opportunities back into the organization and help turn them into products, processes, reference cases, and new business models.

5. Opportunity Mining | Proactive Commercial Exploration

This role is not about waiting for instructions.

We expect you to identify the next opportunity from every meeting, event, demo, introduction, or partner conversation.

You should continuously ask:

  • Which industries should ximu enter first?
  • Which partners could become early adopters?
  • Which Hong Kong resources could amplify ximu's market presence?
  • Which collaboration could become a joint offering?
  • Which customer challenge may signal a new product opportunity?
  • Which scenario could become a regional reference case?

We need someone who can receive the ball, pass the ball, and carry it forward when needed. Business is not always a chessboard—sometimes it is a football pitch. You need to see the open space and have the confidence to make the play.


Requirements

Core Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in B2B commercial, partnerships, solution sales, ecosystem development, consultative sales, or startup market development
  • Strong academic or professional experience in Hong Kong (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Hong Kong's business environment and cross-border collaboration
  • Ability to work with founders, senior executives, product teams, PMs, and external partners
  • Excellent English and Chinese communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to turn complex ideas into actionable commercial plans
  • Highly self-motivated, adaptable, and execution-oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in startups, SaaS, AI, FinTech, Web3, platform businesses, or professional services
  • Experience in GTM, partnership development, regional expansion, or cross-border projects
  • Familiarity with Cloud, SI, MarTech, DataTech, consulting, or solution ecosystems
  • Experience across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei, Singapore, or Tokyo
  • Strong academic background in business, technology, communications, finance, or related fields
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building new markets
